Secret Place Ministry in Oklahoma City that provides transitional housing for women and children. This ministry is what I refer to as a “pure charity” ministry. It survives by the grace of God and the donations of various people and businesses in the community. The donations go directly to the need. Secret Place currently is buying one house and leases 4-5 others to house the women and children it serves.
Some of the women are coming out of prison and getting their children back from the state with no place to go except the streets, or back to the life that got them incarcerated in the first place. Some of the women and children have been battered and abused and are living in hiding. Some of the women are from the streets and trying to get their lives back together. Secret place gives them food, shelter, clothing, counseling, encouragement, mentoring, help to find jobs and help to build their self esteem.
This ministry accepts donations of all kinds: furniture, dishes, clothing, various household items, food, soap, toilet paper, paper towels, toys, etc…. Basically, if it can be used by a woman or child, they need it and will use it. Currently, most people drop off donations on the front porch of the house. They do not have a place to store these things or even a place to sort through the various items. We want to help them in this area.
